Well here we are, Cali and Oscar are already four months and the year is slipping away. It has been a year since I had the embryo transfer that resulted in Cali and Oscar and it has to be the quickest year from memory.
Almost a year ago I made the phone call that changed our lives and was one of the happiest of my life. I will remember that day like it was only yesterday. I was at work and went for a walk at lunch to make the call. It was a hot sunny day and I took myslef for a stroll through the parklands by the river. I had been testing for the previous 5 days which all showed positives, but to actually here the words 'congratulations, you are pregnant' was something I had been waiting three years to hear. My HCG level was high at 1127, so this was also the first suspicion that both embryos stuck and we might be expecting twins. The next phone call I made was to Rod and then to my mum who cried which made me cry more than I already was. I had to go back to work, so I composed myself, dried the tears but don't think I actually did any work that afternoon. I came home to find a huge bunch of flowers from Rod and then we went out for a celebratory dinner, minus the wine for me :) It was exciting to ring all our family that night to tell them the news as they all knew about our IVF treatment.
So fast forward a year to today and my babies are now 4 months old! This week we had their four month check up and both are doing perfectly. They both came in at 6.2kg each. Cali is now 58.5cm long, 10cms longer than birth and Oscar is 60.8cm, almost 13cm longer than at birth. They are so delightful at the moment. Happy, laughing, smiling and best of all sleeping well!!!! Cali is rolling over but mainly by accident. She is such a squirmer and when laying on the floor, gets herself up on her side and keeps moving which makes her roll onto her tummy. Yesterday she even managed to roll back onto her back. Oscar gets up on his side, but is yet to get over. He can roll from his front to his back, but not back yet. He is really strong and pushes himself backwards all the time on his back, loves tummy time and looking around and is pushing himself up with his legs when sitting and pulling him up with his hands. Cali is becoming a bit of a copycat and laughs when you laugh, pokes out her tongue when you do and tries to have conversations with everyone along with a cheeky smile that melts anyones heart.
Oscar looking serious and Cali lining up her brother already!*************************************************************************************
In other news, we are heading back to Brisbane to live. Rod is applying for jobs at the moment and hopefully will have some interviews soon. He is in the middle of exams for uni but after next week he can pretty much take whatever is offered. It would be ideal if he did find a job that was happy for him to start after Christmas so it gives us time to pack up here and find a new house to live, but if a job comes up then needs him sooner, he may have to go up ahead of us while I pack and stay with my parents until we find a house to rent. I am being very particular with what I ant now we have kids, so the search might prove a little harder this time around. I am not living in Qld again without airconfitioning, so this is one of the highest priorities on the list.
There are parts of me that are excited to be moving back to Qld (I can catch up with some of my online buddies :) ) but I am also sad to be leaving my family once again. I love having my mum, dad, brother, sister in law's and neices and nephews so close but Coffs doesn't offer the work Rod wants and also the salary we need to get ahead. I know that we will only be 4 hours away, but I have gotten used to seeing them every week and also having mum around to look after Cali and Oscar when I need to go to an appointment. I know they will be up to visit lots and as I won't be working, I will be able to come back for visits hopefully once a month.
